Swimming Opens the 2011-12 Home Schedule With 128-72 Result Over Sacred Heart
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2011) – The C.W. Post swimming team earned a 128-72 victory early today over Sacred Heart University. The meet marked the first home meet of the season for the Pioneers and improve to 2-0 in dual meets for the year.
The swim team managed seven individual first place finishes during the meet, with two relay victories to go along with that.
Senior
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) was greatly involved in the today's success, as she was a first place finisher in the 50 Free with a time of 24.36. She also was a part of the 200 Medley Relay that took first place with a time of 1:49.23. Hanes was joined on the relay team by
Sandra Luiga (Jarfalla, Sweden),
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada), and
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom).
Luiga also joined with
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.),
Catriona Laird (Saline, Scotland), and
Angelica Norrena (Solina, Sweden) to earn a 200 Free Relay first place finishing time of 1:41.94.
Garriock and
Malin Hedberg (Vasteras, Sweden) each earned two individual victories on the day to lead C.W. Post. Garriock was victorious in the 200 Free (1:56.49) and 200 Breast (2:26.81) while Hedberg won her events of 500 Free (5:21.89) and 1000 Free (10:53.16).
Morrison and Laird took home first place results in the 100 Free and 200 Fly, respectively.
Next on the schedule for the Pioneers will be another home meet, coming on Nov. 18. C.W. Post will welcome in Army for the Friday evening dual-meet.
