Women's Lacrosse Ranked Second In IWLCA Preseason Poll
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2011) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its preseason poll for the upcoming 2011 season and C.W. Post finds itself ranked second overall.
Adelphi, two-time reigning NCAA champions, look received 10 first-place votes to lead the field of ten programs. The Pioneers claimed the second spot, while a pair of PSAC schools sit at No. 3 and No. 4, as rivals Lock Haven and West Chester sit in the next two spots.
The PSAC leads all conferences with four schools, with Mercyhurst (No. 6) and Gannon (No. 10) joining the Haven and WCUPA. The Northeast-10 claims three institutions, starting with top-ranked Adelphi and including Stonehill (No. 7) and LeMoyne (No. 8); the Dolphins reclassified to Division II for the 2011 season. Dowling (No. 9) joins C. W. Post and the East Coast Conference in the poll while Limestone (No. 5) represents the Conference Carolinas.
C.W. Post opens its 17-game slate at home against Georgian Court on March 9.
