Women's Lacrosse to Host Lax4Life on March 30 Against Bridgeport
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 22, 2010) - The C.W. Post Women's Lacrosse team has announced that they will be participating in the Lax4Life initiative during their game against Bridgeport at 4:00 on Wednesday March 30th.
Lax 4 Life is a series of games played throughout all of Division II to raise money for the
Allyson Rose Green Memorial Fund. Allyson's Fund was created to increase awareness of adolescent suicides and help identify adolescents at risk. Allyson was the younger sister of West Chester goalkeeper Mary Beth Green. The Women's lacrosse teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference started Lax4Life in 2009 and the effort has expanded to include NCAA Division II teams across the nation.
This year the Women's Lacrosse team wanted to include the
Alexis Pilkington Memorial Foundation in their efforts. Alexis Skye Pilkington was 17-years-old and a member of the West Islip High School soccer and lacrosse teams in West Islip. She was a stand-out on her team and was well-liked by her peers. Alexis was a friend and teammate of some of the C.W. Post Women's lacrosse players.
During the game on March 30th you will see both teams in yellow and gray t-shirts that were purchased to raise money for Allyson's Fund. All donations that are collected during the game will go directly to the Alexis Pilkington Memorial.
The Pioneers ask for your support as they raise money for an excellent cause. In addition, supporters can "like" the Lax4Life facebook page by clicking this
