Bridgeport Slips Past Baseball, 2-1
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 29, 2010) – The C.W. Post baseball team dropped a close contest despite a strong effort from sophomore hurler Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.), falling to the University of Bridgeport, 2-1, in the first East Coast Conference matchup of the five game series between the two teams.
The Pioneers slipped to 3-19 on the season and 2-3 in the ECC.
Budkevics scattered nine hits over six innings, allowing two earned runs and issuing two walks
and striking out three batters.
Gaetano Giunta had a second inning RBI single, while Stefan Wagner roped and RBI single in the sixth inning to account for UB's scoring.
C.W. Post got one run back in the ninth, as sophomore Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.) stroked a one-out double and scored on an RBI single to center by freshman Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.).
C.W. Post will host Bridgeport on Friday at 3 p.m.
