No. 6 Women's Lacrosse Shoots Past Molloy, 18-5

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (April 14, 2011) –
Junior attacker Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.)  scored four goals, surpassing the 100 goal mark for her career, and freshman attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered a career-high nine assists, as No. 6 women's lacrosse scored 13 first half goals and held Molloy scoreless in the second half en route to an 18-5 victory over the Molloy Lions on Thursday evening. 

The Pioneers improve to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the ECC, while Molloy slides to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

C.W. Post opened up a 4-0 lead that spanned the first seven minutes of play, with Sileo assisting on three of the four goals, and Spagnoletta's first tally of the day, at 23:57, gave the junior the century mark.

Molloy broke through for their first goal at 23:21, but sophomore Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored on a Sileo assist at 20:46, followed by two unassisted scores by Spagnoletta, then a goal by Kathleen Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) and another by Sileo to push the score to 9-1. 

Molloy scored again at 9:16, but sophomore Abigail Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored back-to-back tallies with Sileo assisting on both, and pushed C.W. Post to an 11-2 advantage.

C.W. Post scored twice more, but watched the Lions score three straight with under a minute and a half to play to close out the half cutting the lead to 13-5.

The second half was a C.W. Post defensive showcase as the Pioneers put the clamps on Molloy's offense and held the Lions scoreless, while scoring five goals to finish off the victory.

In addition to Spagnoletta and Sileo's efforts, senior attacker Michelle Fucich (Seaford, N.Y.) scored three goals, Ross ended her day with three, and eight other Pioneers scored one goal apiece for C.W. Post.

Emily Antonette had a goal and an assist for Molloy.

Sophomore goalkeeper Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) posted a season-high 15 saves in the effort, picking up 14 ground balls to Molloy's eight. 

C.W. Post travels to Stonehill to take on the fifth-ranked Skyhawks on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
