BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 16, 2011)   C.W. Post baseball picked up its seventh win on the season behind a big fourth inning that helped to provide the winning runs.  The Pioneers now improve to 7-25 overall with the 10-4 non-conference victory over Concordia.

With neither team managing a base hit during the first inning, the score went into the top of the second scoreless.  The Clippers quickly turned that into a 3-0 advantage with two RBI singles and one bases loaded walk.  Jason Rivera hit the first of those two singles, hitting a grounder to the shortstop that got in for an infield single.

The C.W. Pioneers then battled back to score five runs during the bottom half of the fourth inning to take the lead.  Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.) ripped an RBI double down the left field to score the first run.  Dan Burnett (Farmingdale, N.Y.) later hit his own RBI double to score one run.  Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.) drove in Joe Mare (Whitestone, N.Y.) to account for the fifth run of the game for the Pioneers.

C.W. Post then added two more insurance runs during the sixth and then also during the eighth the squad added three more to make the score 10-4 after the Clippers managed to push one across during the seventh.

Mike Eckerle (Hewlett, N.Y.) picked up the win for the Pioneers, going five strong and striking out five while scattering five hits and only giving up three runs during the second.

Corona finished his day with three RBI's, while Burnett went perfect from the plate on the day, going 4-4, scoring two runs and notching one RBI.

Next up for the Pioneers will be back to conference play as they travel to Mercy for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday, April 20.
