Bischoff Shuts Out Queens, 5-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 19, 2011) –
Junior pitcher Paul Bischoff (Levittown, N.Y.) threw a complete game shutout and the Pioneers scored three in the fifth and tacked on two more in the ninth to earn a 5-0 victory over Mercy College on Friday afternoon in East Coast Conference baseball action.
C.W. Post moved to 8-27 overall, 6-13 in conference play, while Mercy bumps to 14-18, 7-11 in ECC action.
After four scoreless innings, Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.) walked to lead off the fifth inning. A sacrifice bunt moved him to second, and a hit batsmen followed by an infield single by Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.) loaded the bases for Nick Compito (Syosset, N.Y.), who came through with big one-out triple to drive in all three runners and give C.W. Post a 3-0 lead.
The Pioneers added two insurance runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.).
Bischoff scattered seven hits over nine innings, walking two and striking out three.
Charles DeHart was the losing pitcher for Mercy, allowing three runs in six inning pitched.
Maccarone and Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y.) each had two hits for C.W. Post. 
The Pioneers are scheduled to play a doubleheader at home tomorrow at 12 noon, weather pending.
