Two Women's Lacrosse Players Earn ECC Weekly Honors After 2-0 Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (April 4, 2011) – After going 2-0 last week, two C.W. Post women's lacrosse players earned ECC Weekly Honors for their performances during last week's games. Junior midfielder Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) earned Player of the Week honors, while freshman Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) earned her second Rookie of the Week nod on the season.
Spagnoletta was the leader of the scoring output the Pioneers put up last week, scoring 11 goals and contributing two assists to total 13 points during the two games. The junior also went 1-2 in free position attempts, picked up three ground balls, controlled five draw controls, and caused one turnover to add to her already stellar stats. Spanoletta started the week with six goals against Bridgeport, and the followed that up with five netted shot against Bentley.
Sileo did a little of both scoring and assisting to help earn her second Rookie of the Week. Against Bridgdeport, Sileo tallied one goal and dished out six assists to help lead the Pioneers to victory. She then picked up five ground balls against Bentley to go along with her three goals and two assists.
The Pioneers are scheduled for three games this week, including one home game. C.W. Post will welcome in New Haven on Wednesday, April 6, for a 4 p.m. start on Hickox field. The team will then travel to Seton Hill on Saturday, April 9, for a 3 p.m. contest and then the week's finale on Sunday, April 10, will take place at 12 p.m. on the campus of Lake Erie.
C.W. Post currently sits at 4-1 and in fifth place in the IWLCA poll. The Pioneers do however control first place in the ECC.
