Budkevics' 15 K's Lead Baseball Past Queens, 6-0

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Sophomore pitcher Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.) tossed a complete-game five-hitter with a career-high 15 strikeouts on Friday afternoon at Ray Metski Field, as the C.W. Post baseball team rolled to a 6-0 East Coast Conference triumph over Queens College
C.W. Post improved to 5-23 overall, and 4-7 in ECC play.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, as Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.) reached and scored on two Queens errors.
Another run in the fourth inning came as sophomore Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y.) reached on a single and scored on freshman Ryan Sloane's (Westbury, N.Y.) run scoring line-drive sacrifice fly to center field.
The Pioneers tacked on two runs in the fifth as Corona doubled In a run and another Pioneer error allowed another run to score for a 4-0 lead.
A two-run eighth pushed the lead to 6-0, as McKay led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch, then freshman Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.) singled home another run.
McKay finished the afternoon going 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the winning effort, while Corona contributed a double, run scored and RBI to the cause.
The two teams continue their series at Ray Metski Field on Saturday afternoon, with a twinbill of seven-inning contests. First pitch for the opening game is slated for 12 noon.
