Women's Lacrosse Places Five On IWLCA North Region Teams
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 23, 2011) - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2010 Division II All-North Region Team on May 22, and five members of the C.W. Post women's lacrosse team received kudos in the release. First team selections from the Pioneers include junior defender Chelsea Donaldson (Bay Shore, N.Y.), junior midfielder Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.), and freshman attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.). Junior midfielder Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) and senior attacker Michelle Fucich (Seaford, N.Y.) were named to the second team.
Spagnoletta, a two-time selection to the IWLCA All-North Region team, has again put up standout numbers with a team-high 62 goals and 11 assists for 73 total points. She won 40 draw controls and picked up 24 ground balls.
Donaldson has been a standout defender for the Pioneers this season, often with the job of containing the opposing team's top scorer, and she has responded with an outstanding season, picking up 38 ground balls and causing a team-high 21 turnovers.
Sileo had a sensational rookie season, leading the team with 101 points and dishing out 67 assists. She also scored 34 goals, good for third on the team, while picking up 32 ground balls and winning 21 draw controls.
Drost moved up to offense this season, and responded with a solid performance during her junior year, scoring 16 goals with five assists, while picking up 31 ground balls, winning 23 draw controls, and causing 20 turnovers.
Fucich caps her career with her first All-Region citation, as the attacker finished with 28 goals and 28 assists. She picked up 25 ground balls and won 22 draw controls.
