Women’s Swimming Recognized for Highest GPA in Division II

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (July 28, 2011) – C.W. Post head women's swimming coach Maureen Travers proudly announced that her team has earned the highest GPA among Division II teams for the second consecutive semester. The team was honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association with the Team Scholar All American Award for the spring 2011 semester.

The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Together, the swimmers of C.W. Post achieved a GPA of 3.59 for the Spring 2011 semester, earning them the highest score in all of Division II and tied for fourth place among all three NCAA divisions.

In addition, four team members were awarded the Individual Scholar All American Award; presented to athletes who have both qualified for the NCAA championship and achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario), Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada), Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and Mairi Morrison (Carnock, United Kingdom) all received this CSCAA honor for their outstanding academic and athletic performances throughout the course of the spring semester.
