Swimming Tallies 102-74 Victory Over East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, N.Y. (Jan. 11, 2012) –
The women's swimming team returned to action on Wednesday night with a convincing 102-74 victory in a dual meet with East Stroudsburg.

Malin Hedberg (Vasteras, Sweden) came away with two individual victories, competing in long distance events.  In the 1000 free, she swam a finishing time of 11:09.22 and then followed that up with a 5:31.85 time in the 500 free.

The Pioneers took first place in seven other individual events while also earning first place in the opening relay event of the 200 medley relay.  Other first place individual finishes included a 200 free victory for Angelica Norrena (Solna, Sweden) with a time of 2:00.35, Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) finishing the 50 free in a 24.36 time, Sandra Luiga (Jarfalla, Sweden) won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:15.38, the 100 fly was taken by Catriona Laird (Saline, Scotland) with a time of 1:02.44, a 100 free victory with a time of 59.73 by Maxianne Russo (Lake Ronkonkoma), Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland) with a time of 1:03.21 won the 100 back, and then in the last individual event, Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.) finished the 100 breast in 1:09.20 to win.     

The relay team of Sandra Kirstein (Hollviken, Sweden), Hew, Laird, and Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.) earned the first victory for the Pioneers during the 200 medley relay with a 1:56.87 winning time. 

Looking ahead, the C.W. Post women's swimming team will next compete in a meet on Friday, Jan. 20, at Kutztown.  The meet is set for 4 p.m. on that Friday afternoon.
