Women's Swimming Begins Weekend With 115-83 Victory over Kutztown
KUTZTOWN, PA. (Jan. 20, 2012) – Six individual and two relay victories helped the Pioneer women's swimming team produce a 115-83 on the road this afternoon against Kutztown.
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada) each compiled two wins as individual swimmers in four different events. Hanes started things with a 50 free win as she finished the even in a time of 24.57 and then followed that up with 53.94 time in the 100 free. Garriock accounted for her two victories in the 200 individual medley and 200 breast with times of 2:12.00 and 2:27.00 respectively.
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) earned a win in the 200 back event with a finishing time of 2:10.01 while a time of 5:23.52 in the 500 free allowed
Malin Hedberg (Vasteras, Sweden) to capture a victory for C.W. Post.
The 400 medley relay started the day off with a victory for the Pioneers as Pettersson, Garriock, and Hanes teamed with
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland) to finish the event in a time of 4:04.27. Pettersson then continued her solid performance on the day when she teamed with
Angelica Norrena (Solna, Sweden),
Sandra Kirstein (Hollviken, Sweden), and
Sandra Luiga (Jarfalla, Sweden) to win the 400 Free Relay with a 3:48.45 time.
C.W. Post will be back in the pool tomorrow when the team welcome in the Siena Saints for a dual meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Pratt Recreation Center.
