New Pool Records Established During Women's Swimming 111-90 Victory Over Siena
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 21, 2012) – The C.W. Post women's swimming team returned to pool of the Pratt Recreation Center this afternoon to earn 111-90 win over the Saints from Siena while also establishing three new pool records.
One of the pool records came as part of relay team events while the other two were earned individually by Pioneer swimmers.
In the opening event, the relay team of
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden)
, Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia),
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland) set a pool record during the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.91. The Pioneers also took victory during the last event of the day, the 200 free relay. Delehanty teamed with Garriock, Morrison and Hanes to earn a 1:37.49 winning time.
Hanes, back during the fourth event of the day, achieved a new pool record during the 50 free with a winning time of 23.95 to earn first place. The fourth pool record was set during the 100 free when Hanes again took first place with a time of 52.33 to put another record in the books.
Malin Hedberg (Vasteras, Sweden) came away with a first place finish during the 1000 free, finishing the event in a time of 10:50.08. Pettersson also earned a win during the 100 back with a time of 58.45. Garriock then took home another first place finish for the Pioneers with a 5:04.22 time during the 500 free event.
Next on the schedule will be the final home meet of the 2011-12 season for the women's swimming team. That meet will take place next Saturday, Jan. 28, as Bridgeport will travel to the Pioneers' campus.
