Volleyball Sweeps Past District Of Columbia, 3-0

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2012) – LIU Post came from behind in set three, 27-25, to close out a 3-0 sweep over the University of the District of Columbia Thursday evening in an East Coast Conference volleyball clash at Adelphi University's Recreation Center. The set scores were 25-19, 25-23 and 27-25.
LIU Post improves to 20-12 overall and 9-4 in conference play while District of Columbia slips to 12-15 overall and 5-10 in the conference.
Junior
Susy Cricchi (Borgovelino, Rieti, Italy) led the Pioneers with eight kills while freshman
Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) led the match with 22 defensive digs.
LIU Post played through the first two sets with relative ease until the third set when the Firebirds opened with a 10-3 lead. The Pioneers rallied back with a 12-4 run to take a 15-14 lead. UDC regained the lead down the stretch and reached match point with a 24-22 lead before the Pioneers tied it with back-to-back kills by Cricchi. UDC's Jazmin Rogers gave the visitors a 25-24 lead but they could not hold on and surrendered three straight attack errors to give the Pioneers the win.
LIU Post returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Dowling College at 1 p.m.
