Women's Swimming Earns Team Scholar All America Award; Highest GPA Among All Divisions
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Feb. 23, 2012) – The women's swimming team has been honored as the top Team Scholar All American squad in Division II for the 2011-12 season.
Not only does the 3.7 GPA achieved by the Pioneer qualify as the top mark among all Division II teams, the GPA is also top among all divisions for both men and women teams, as recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
At the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers this past weekend, the Pioneers totaled enough points throughout the three day event to earn a second place finish. The team will now compete at the ECAC Championships in Maryland.
The Team Scholar All American award is distributed to a swimming and diving team from a college or university that has achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Teams are presented with the award after achieving the standard during the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
