Women's Swimming Begins ECAC Championships on Friday
ANNAPOLIS, MD. (Feb. 25, 2012) – The Pioneer women's swimming team was once again in action on Friday for weekend championship action, this time taking part in the ECAC Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy.
The first competitive event in Friday's finals was the 200 free relay. The relay team for C.W. Post that participated in that event earned a 1:35.14 finishing time, qualifying for first place in the event.
Next was an individual event, in which
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.) were involved in the 50 free, along with
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland). Hanes was involved in the 'A' heat, as she took first place with a 23.59 time. Delehanty then finished with a 24.21 time during the 'B' heat and Morrison also was in that heat with a time of 24.81.
Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.) also participated in Friday's event, as she was involved in the 200 individual medley with a finishing time of 2:10.26.
The last event of the day was the 400 medley relay, with the group in that event finishing with a time of 4:01.74, placing the squad in seventh place.
Through the first day of events, the C.W. Post team is in sixth place with a 97.5 point score. Harvard leads all teams with a first place 202 points.
