Women's Swimming Has Strong Showing at East Stroudsburg Invitational
EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (Feb. 4, 2012) – The women's swim team of C.W. Post came away with seven total victories during the East Stroudsburg Invitational today. Five of those came from individual and two relay wins.
Other teams involved in the Invitational included East Stroudsburg, Millersville, Kutztown and the Pioneers.
C.W. Post opened up the day with a victory during the 200 medley relay, as the 'A' team for the Pioneers was able to complete the event in a time of 1:50.14. That team was made of
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.),
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada),
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden), and
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland).
Hanes highlighted the day with two individual victories. She first came away with a 24.44 finishing time during the 50 free, followed up by a 100 breaststroke victory time of 1:11.17. Coming in between Hanes' two wins was a 100 backstroke win by
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden). Pettersson ended the event with a time of 1:00.24.
Later on during the day, Garriock and Morrison went back-to-back with individual victories. Garriock went first with a 1:01.77 winning time during the 100 butterfly. Morrison then earned the win in the next event with a 200 individual medley time of 2:19.33.
The Invitational was then capped off by another relay victory for C.W. Post. Delehanty grouped with Garriock, Morrison, and Hanes again and this time in the 200 freestyle relay to win the event in a completion of 1:40.44.
C.W. Post will next compete in two weeks during the Metropolitan Conference Championships in Piscataway, N.J. The Championships will take place from Feb. 17-19.
