WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2012) –
C.W. Post snapped a three-game skid with a 6-2 victory over Bentley behind a complete game effort from junior starter Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.), and the offense came alive as the Pioneers pounded out 12 hits en route to the victory.

The Pioneers even up their record at 6-6, while the Falcons' win streak is stopped at three games, with Bentley standing at 5-10 on the season.

The Falcons struck first in the top of the second as Lamarre Rey reached on a throwing effort and came around to score on Kevin Korwek's single to center field.

The Pioneers took the lead in the bottom of the second as P.J. Jennings (Morris Plains, N.J.) led off with a double to right center.  Vincent Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.) followed with a double to left center that scored Jennings to tie the game, then Connor Coman (Bay Shore, N.Y.) singled to drive home Iacono and put the Pioneers ahead 2-1.  Coman stole second and scored on Matt Simone's (West Islip, N.Y.) single to right field to make it 3-1.

Bentley scored a run in the sixth to make it a one-run game as Rey singled to left to drive in Logan Gillis, but the Pioneers answered back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to push the lead back to two.  Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and stole third.  Following two one-out walks to load the bases, the Bentley pitcher balked, advancing all three runners and allowing Herring to score.

The Pioneers tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth as Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.) single, advanced to second on a sac bunt, and scored on Angel Pimentel's (New York, N.Y.) single up the middle.  Pimentel stole second then scored on Coman's single to center to give the Pioneers a 6-2 lead heading into the ninth.

Offensively, Coman, Simone and Herring each had two hits in the victory.  Budkevics earned the complete game victory with nine innings pitched, allowing two unearned runs on four hits, striking out eight batters.

C.W. Post continues play in Florida tomorrow at 11 a.m. as the Pioneers take on Pace.
