WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2012) – The C.W. Post baseball team played Pace to a 1-1 tie through six innings, but the Setters used a big sixth inning to open up the game and deal the Pioneers a 10-4 defeat on Thursday afternoon.

C.W. Post drops to 6-7 on the season while Pace stands at 6-5.

Pace took an early 1-0 lead when Chris Roemer led off the top of the first with a walk.  A single put runners on the corners, and a groundball double play allowed Roemer to score.

The Pioneers put runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings, but it wasn't until Vincent Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.) came home on a wild pitch that C.W. Post was finally able to score the equalizer.

The home team continued to struggle with runners in scoring position, stranding two in the fourth and three in the fifth, with three runners getting thrown out trying to score.

Pace opened up the game with a huge sixth inning that saw the Setters bat around, scoring eight runs on four hits, two errors, two walks and a hit batsmen.

The Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth as Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.) roped a bases loaded triple.

Paul Bischoff (Levittown, N.Y.) took the loss with 5.1 innings of work, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out five batters and walking three.  Frank Catalano (Brooklyn, N.Y. ) threw well in relief, tossing three shutout innings and allowing only one hit.

C.W. Post will take on Rollins tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
