LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (March 24, 2012) – The third-ranked C.W. Post women's lacrosse team used a balanced scoring effort combined with a strong performance in goal by Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) with 13 saves to defeat No. 6 Lock Haven in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon.

C.W. Post improves to 4-0 on the season, while Lock Haven slips to 2-4 overall.

The Lady Eagles took a 4-1 lead through the first five minute of play behind three goals by Elyse Fisher to open the game.  But the Pioneers rattled off three straight goals, by Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) from Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.), unassisted by Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) and by Kathleen Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) from Sileo, to tie the game at 4-4 with 6:46 remaining in the first half. 

Fisher scored again at 3:23 to give LHU the lead, but Nan Mayott (Islip, N.Y.) tied it up again with exactly two minutes remainin in the half.  Kayleigh Johnson scored unassisted at 1:04 to give the Lady Eagles the lead again, but with just six seconds remaining in the half, Abbie Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored on a free position shot to tie the game 6-6 heading into halftime.  

The Pioneers came out of the half and took control of the game with a three goal spurt, starting with Losco connecting with Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) for her first of the game at 28:36, then another unassisted by Mayott at 23:23, then Sileo found Ross at 22:52 to make it a 9-6 Pioneer advantage. 

Chelsea Borrino scored an unassisted goal for LHU to make it a two-goal agame at 19:10, but Spagnoletta answered with her second of the game at 16:18.  Borrino scored again at 13:44, but the Pioneers answered again with Olen's second of the day for an 11-8 lead.  The Pioneer defense clamped down for the remaining ten minutes and held the Lady Eagles scoreless.

The Pioneer scoring was spread evenly, as Spagnoletta, Mayott, Olen and Ross each scored two goals apiece, while Sileo added a goal and two assists and Losco had a goal and an assist.

Fisher scored four goals to lead LHU.

The teams were even in most statistics, with each squad taking 24 shots apiece.  LHU picked up 21 ground balls to the Pioneers' 18, and the Lady Eagles won 11 draw controls while the Pioneers won 10. 

Mosca made seven saves in the first half and six in the second to improve her record to 4-0 on the season.

Next up, the Pioneers travel to New Haven for a Wednesday afternoon game starting at 4 p.m.
