BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 25, 2012) -
Matt Simone (West Islip, N.Y.) drove in both runs and Paul Bischoff (Levittown, N.Y.) tossed a complete game three-hitter for the C.W. Post baseball team as it defeated Queens by a final score of 2-1 on a cold, blustery Sunday afternoon in East Coast Conference action.

The Pioneers even their record to 10-10 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while Queens stands at 5-9, 0-3 in conference play.

Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.) led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored on an infield single by Simone.

Queens tied the score in the fourth as the Pioneer infield yielded two errors that allowed Alphonse Gentile to score.

The bats went quiet for the next few innings as the Pioneers couldn't break the tie despite several opportunities.  But P.J. Jennings (Morris Plains, N.J.) walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and was sacrificed over to second by Vinny Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.).   Jennings advanced to third on a fielder's choice, and again it was Simone who came up big, singling through the left side to drive in the go-ahead run.

Two runs were all Bischoff needed as he went all nine innings and allowed only three hits and one unearned run, issuing two walks and striking out five.  Simone had three hits and Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had two to lead the Pioneers at the plate.

C.W. Post will host non-conference Dominican on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
