No. 5 Women's Lacrosse Dominates Molloy, 20-3

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 14, 2012) – The fifth-ranked C.W. Post women's lacrosse team used a dominating performance both offensively and defensively to earn a decisive East Coast Conference victory over the Molloy College Lions, 20-3, on Saturday afternoon.

C.W. Post improves to 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the ECC, while Molloy slips to 5-7 and 2-1 in conference play.

Olen opened the scoring at 28:56 on a Sileo assist, the first of five connections the pair would make during the game.  Alexa Toscano tied the score with a tally at 27:38, but Abigail Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored her first of the game at 25:41, followed by another Olen score at 22:48.  Nan Mayott (Islip, N.Y.) ripped home a shot at 19:24 to give the Pioneers a 4-1 lead.

Emily Antonette made it 4-2 with a goal at 17:14 for Molloy but the Pioneers scored seven straight to close out the half including three goals by Olen, and the Pioneers held an 11-2 lead at halftime.

Sileo scored two straight to open the second half, at 28:35 and 27:04, and Mayott and Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) each registered goals to give the Pioneers a 15-2 advantage.

A 5-1 scoring run by the Pioneers closed out the game as C.W. Post earned the 20-3 victory. 

Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) was outstanding in goal, making 12 saves including five on free position shots.  Offensively, Sileo and Olen led the way as Olen finished with five goals and Sileo dished eight assists and scored three goals.  Mayott and Ross also registered hat tricks, while Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Spagnoletta each added two goals apiece.   

Antonette led Molloy with two goals, while Laura Vetter took the loss, allowing 11 goals and making two saves between the pipes. 

C.W. Post is at home next on Saturday, April 21 as it hosts Stonehill at 10 a.m.  The game will also be the team's Senior Day.
