BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 18, 2012) – C.W. Post scored two unearned runs in the fouth and a strong pitching effort by the Pioneer s made the runs stand as they posted a 2-1 East Coast Conference victory over Queens on Wednesday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 21-15 overall and 11-5 in conference play while Queens goes to 8-21 overall and 3-11 in ECC action.
An infield error with the bases loaded in the fourth accounted for both runs as the Pioneers struggled with runners on base all afternoon but found a way to push across enough for the win.
The Knights scored one in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Danny Herzog, but Anthony Zapulla (Staten Island, N.Y.) pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save in relief of Paul Bischoff (Levittown, N.Y.), who scattered seven hits in 7.1 innings, allowing one earned run.
C.W. Post is back in action on Friday against the Knights in a non-conference contest starting at 3 p.m. in Flushing.
