Baseball Takes Two From Molloy; 8-2, 7-0

Box Score 2 UNIONDALE, N.Y. (April 28, 2012) – The C.W. Post baseball team swept a doubleheader from Molloy by scores of 8-2 and 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference baseball action.
C.W. Post improves to 25-15 overall and 14-5 in ECC action, while Molloy slides to 19-24 and 9-11 in conference play.
Senior
James Stone (Massapequa, N.Y.) went the distance in the first game, earning his fourth victory of the season with seven innings, scattering eight hits and allowing only one earned run.
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI from junior
Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.) and junior
Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.).
C.W. Post tacked on another run in the second on an RBI bunt by
Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.), and added two more runs in the fourth as
Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) drove in a run.
Two more runs in the fifth gave the Pioneers a 7-0 lead. Molloy scored a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh but the Pioneer lead was too much as they earned the victory.
Offensivley, sophomore
Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.) led the Pioneers at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with a run scored.
Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.), Brunetti,
Tom Kastelan (Deer Park, N.Y.) and
Vinny Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.) each had two hits in the win.
In the second game, strong Pioneer pitching was again the theme, as senior
Glen Hudson (Sayville, N.Y.) tossed a five-hit shutout for his third win of the season.
C.W. Post took a 5-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back, adding single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
Pimentel paced the Pioneers offensively with a 2-for-2 showing, driving in three and scoring one. Tolan and
Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.) each had two hits in the game.
C.W. Post in back in action tomorrow against Molloy at home as the Pioneers host the Lions in a 1 p.m. contest.
