Five Women's Lacrosse Players Named IWLCA North Region First Team
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 18, 2012) - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2012 Division II All-North Region Team on May 18, and five members of the C.W. Post women's lacrosse team received first team kudos in the release. Two-time IWLCA All-American and East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year Chelsea Donaldson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) has again anchored a defense that is ranked fifth in Division II allowing just 8.39 goals per game. The senior captain has again put up strong numbers, picking up a team-hihg 39 ground balls and causing 13 turnovers.
Junior goalkeeper Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) is the vocal leader of the backfield, with a 16-3 record between the pipes, and ranks in the top five in the country in goals against average and save percentage.
Senior midfielder and 2011 IWLCA All-American Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) is one of the hardest working Pioneers and is making a case again this year for national recognition. She has totaled 55 points (41g, 14a), a team-high 47 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
Sophomore attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) dispelled any notion of a sophomore slump by putting up some of the most impressive numbers in the country. An All-American last season, the attacker has totaled a Division II-best 132 points and 93 assists this year.
Junior attacker Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) rebounded from an ACL tear that forced her to the sidelines in 2011 by returning to form that saw her earn All-America honors in 2010 as well as notice on the Tewaarton Trophy Watch list in 2011. She currently leads the Pioneers with 72 goals.
