Six Women's Lacrosse Players Earn Notice from Synapse Sports
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 23, 2012) – Six members of the C.W. Post women's lacrosse team earned national recognition as Synapse Sports released its Division II Postseason honors list.
Synapse Sports has named All Americans along with Attacker, Midfielder, Defender, Goalkeeper, Coach and Unsung Players-of-the-Year plus an entire Rookie Team.
Sophomore attacker
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named the Attacker of the Year following a season where she led the nation in scoring, averaging more than seven points a game. Sileo led the Pioneers to the NCAA title with a record-setting performance in the tournament. She was as adept at scoring as she was at setting up her teammates, showing her versatility in the final weekend with a flurry of goals in the title game, a day after she demonstrated her ability to lead the team by setting up her teammates. Her statistics included two new single season records for the Pioneers – 141 points and 96 assists in addition to 45 goals.
Fellow sophomore
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) was named the Unsung Hero of the Year. Rotan played a key role for the Pioneers throughout the season, adding depth in the attack and gaining key possessions for them off the draw. She could score when C. W. Post needed a goal, and she ranked second on the team in ground balls as well as draw controls.
In addition, senior defender
Chelsea Donaldson (Bay Shore, N.Y.), senior midfielder
Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) and Sileo were named First Team All-Americans. Junior goalkeeper
Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior attacker
Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) were named Second Team All-Americans.
