BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (July 23, 2012) -  The LIU Post women's lacrosse team has added Alyssa Kildare as assistant coach for the 2013 season, head coach Meghan McNamara announced on Tuesday. Kildare joins the coaching ranks after a standout four-year playing career at Johns Hopkins University.

"I am truly excited to have Alyssa be part of our LIU family,” said McNamara.  “She brings great knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm to the team and she will have a very positive impact here at Post.  Her experience and contributions playing for such a great Division I program at Johns Hopkins will translate into coaching and help us stay at the highest level we can.”

Kildare anchored the Johns Hopkins defense for four years, starting 67 games and leading the team in ground balls and caused turnovers in each of the last three seasons. Her most recent honor came from the IWLCA as she was selected to participate in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game.  She earned All-ALC honors in each of her four seasons and was a three-time IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic selection. She led the Blue Jays in ground balls (29) and caused turnovers (20), while also controlling 15 draws and scoring a pair of goals in 2012. In program history, Kildare ranks 11th in JHU Division I all-time in career ground balls (129), 10th in draw controls (77), sixth in caused turnovers (83), tied for seventh in games played (69) and tied for fifth in games started.

Originally from Farmingdale, N.Y., Kildare collected three US Lacrosse All-America and all-county citations as she led the Dalers to a 67-10 record over four years, complete with three consecutive Long Island championships.

Kildare has previously coached at the club level with the Long Island Elite Yellow Jackets, coaching several different levels, most recently the 2011 Green Team, helping her players to get recruited at the collegiate level.  Her leadership experience at Johns Hopkins will also be as asset, as she was the recipient of the Exemplary Leadership Award, given to a student who exhibits qualities of leadership in a multicultural environment.   While at Hopkins, she also served as a consultant for undergraduate varsity athletes at Senior Leadership Consultants.

Kildare joins McNamara following a 2012 Division II National Championship for the LIU Post women's lacrosse team.  The Pioneers went 17-3 and captured their third program NCAA title in a 17-16 win over West Chester Univeristy on May 19 at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.
