WALTHAM, Mass. (Oct. 12, 2013) - The No. 5 LIU Post field hockey team registered yet another win, its 11th straight to open the season, as the squad shutout Northeast-10 opponent and ninth-ranked Bentley, 3-0, Saturday morning in Waltham, Mass.

LIU Post's 11-0 overall record and 6-0 NE-10 mark are good for top in the conference.

Three different Pioneers scored on the game, with the first goal coming off the stick of sophomore midfielder Cindy Russell (Sound Beach, N.Y.). She buried her third penalty stroke of the season after just over 11 minutes had passed in the first half. The visitors took a whopping 11 shots to 1 by the home squad in the first half, but the penalty stroke was the only shot to find the back of the cage for either side during the opening period of play.

The Pioneers tacked on two insurance goals in the second half, with senior forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) finding freshman forward Melissa Quintanilla (Rome, N.Y.) for the tip-in in the 65th minute. Shortly after, Dragon added another assist, this time ripping a shot that sophomore forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) tipped in for the score.

Freshman Meredith Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) recorded her second shutout in goal, making two saves. On the other side, Katie Kelley turned aside three shots, while allowing three goals.

On the morning, the Pioneers outshot the Falcons, 16-4, and held a 9-1 advantage in penalty corners.

LIU Post now closes out the season with a seven-game homestand, kicking it off with non-conference action against East Stroudsburg on Monday (Oct. 14) at 2 p.m.
