Women's Basketball Runs Away from Roberts Wesleyan, 75-47

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 15, 2013) - The LIU Post women's basketball team used a strong second half to rout Roberts Wesleyan, 75-47, in an East Coast Conference battle Sunday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y.
The Pioneers (5-3, 3-1 ECC) caused 28 turnovers in the game, resulting in 23 points.
LIU Post opened the game with a 10-0 run over the first 4:02 of play. Senior guard
Kiki Sears (Hampton, Va.) and junior guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) each had four points during the spurt. The Pioneers would open up as much as a 17-point lead (24-7) with 9:35 left in the opening stanza after senior forward
Shayna Gatling (Baldwin, N.Y.) hit a lay-up on a fast break.
The Redhawks (5-3, 1-2 ECC) would battle back, however, and get within nine (29-20) when Marissa Sell converted a lay-up.
The green and gold closed out the session on a 7-4 run and took a 36-24 advantage into the break.

Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.) each had seven points to pace the Pioneers in the first half.
For the second-straight game, the second half was all Pioneers. LIU Post used a 27-8 run over the first 10:45 to put the Redhawks away. During the burst, Sears led the green and gold with 11 points, while Williams and senior forward
Dominique Pagan (Bronx, N.Y.) each chipped in five.
The win is LIU Post's second in a row and third in its last four contests. Sears led the Pioneers with 17 points and added five steals, four rebounds and two assists. Williams netted 12 points, while senior guard
Alexis Peters (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in 11. Pagan had nine points and four rebounds off the bench.
