Former Baseball Standout Ron Lupo '88 Passes Away
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (February 22, 2013) - Former LIU Post baseball standout Ron Lupo '88 passed away at his home in Hauppauge, N.Y., from brain cancer. He was 47.
“Our prayers go out to the Lupo family,” said head baseball coach Bill Gaffney. “Ron was a strong part of LIU Post baseball history and meant very much to his teammates.”

Bryan Collins. "Ron's battle with cancer is an inspiration for all of our student athletes. Our well wishes and thoughts remain with the Lupo family."
Lupo was an All-American pitcher for the LIU Post baseball team, as well as an inductee into the LIU Post Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also part of longtime coach Dick Vining's legendary teams that traveled overseas to Holland and China, introducing the game on an international level.
He was recently honored by teammates at the First Annual LIU Post baseball dinner, as his jersey was present at the dinner.
Lupo leaves behind his wife, Michelle, and three children, Nicholas, Deanna and Julia.
Visitation is Thursday and Friday and Moloney's Funeral Home in Hauppauge from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass is Saturday at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Hauppauge at 9:45 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale.
