BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2013) – The first IWLCA 2013 Preseason Division II Poll released yesterday has the LIU Post women's lacrosse team right where it finished in 2012, in the number one spot.

The Pioneers are coming off the program's third national title after they took down the West Chester University Golden Rams 17-16 on May 19 in Louisville, Ky. LIU Post also tied the program record for single season wins in 2012, finishing with an overall record of 17-3. Sophomore attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.), junior goalkeeper Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior attacker Ashley Olen  (East Islip, N.Y.) were three of five Pioneers to earn spots on the 2012 IWLCA All-American First Team. The trio will return to the field this season.

LIU Post received 221 votes and 13 of 15 first-place votes. West Chester sits at number four to begin 2013, while local foe Adelphi University is in third place by only one vote. LeMoyne College and Rollins College make up the rest of the top five teams with 189 and 174 votes, respectively. Dowling College was the only other member of the East Coast Conference in the top 15, as the Golden Lions will be looking to capture their third straight conference title this spring. Molloy College, which finished the regular season at 9-8, also received a few votes.

The Pioneers will begin to defend their national title and number one ranking when they take on St. Anselm College at 4 p.m. Friday, March 1, on Hickox Field.
