BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 13, 2013) - Senior Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) and junior Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) each totaled ten points as Olen registered a game-high seven goals and Sileo passed out seven assists, and in the process set a new high-mark for assists in a career as the top-ranked Pioneers rolled to a 23-13 victory over No. 11 New Haven on Wednesday afternoon.  Sileo breaks Shannon Fabian's old record of 192, set in 2007.

The Pioneers improve to 4-0 while New Haven loses its second straight and goes to 1-2.

Olen got the Pioneers going in the early minutes of action, scoring at 28:00 and 27:12, followed by goals from Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) that made it 4-0.  But UNH scored three of the next four goals to cut the deficit to 5-3 with 14:28.  Four minutes of scoreless play ended as UNH goalkeeper Alyssa Gianotti misplayed a ball that resulted in a New Haven own goal at 10:41, but Nicole McKee registered her second of the game for New Haven to keep it close, 6-4.

Olen scored back to back at 7:33 and 6:54 to give the Pioneers an 8-4 lead, but Kathryn Campbell answered with two goals of her own for the Chargers to make it 8-6.  The Pioneer defense came up bit with under 30 seconds left in the half, forcing a turnover then getting the ball just past midfield to Olen, who motored upfield and ripped a shot into the back of the net with 1.1 seconds remaining to give the Pioneers a three-goal cushion at halftime.

LIU Post came roaring out of the break and rang up five straight markers including two straight by Sileo that gave them some more breathing room.
Two UNH goals followed by two LIU Post goals made it 16-8 with 18:03 to play.

But New Haven rallied with four straight to cut the Pioneer lead to 16-12, forcing head coach Meghan McNamara to take a timeout and refocus her Pioneers.  It worked, as Sileo immediately connected with senior Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) at 10:55, kicking off a seven-goal streak that included her record-breaking assist at 9:47, that put the game firmly in control of the Pioneers, and a last-second New Haven goal did no damage as the Pioneers earned the ten-goal victory.

Olen (7 g, 3 a) and Sileo (3 g, 7 a) were joined by Losco, who registered at hat trick, along with Drost, Chiarenza, Abbie Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) who each scored two goals apiece.  Junior Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) earned the win in her first collegiate start with 10 saves.

McKee and Campbell each scored four for New Haven, and Gianotti took the loss in goal, making three stops in 38:05 minutes of action.

Next up for the Pioneers is a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday as part of a men's and women's lacrosse doubleheader.  The Pioneers take on Holy Family in a non-conference matchup.
