Pioneers Pound out 12 hits, Score 12 to Beat Queens

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 22, 2013) – The Pioneers pounded out 12 hits and scored 12 runs against Queens College in their first East Coast Conference matchup of the season.
 
LIU Post (7-8, 1-0) came out swinging in the first when redshirt junior Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y) tripled to score senior Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.), who singled to lead off the bottom of the first. Senior Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.) tripled home McKay and came around to score after a throwing error.
 
Senior Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.) singled down the left-field line and moved up to second when senior Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.) reached on an error. Junior Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.) singled and Corona was able to come around to score on a fielding error by the right fielder.
 
To cap the scoring in the bottom of the first, Pimentel scored on a wild pitch.
 
The Pioneers added one run in the second, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the eighth to support senior Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y), who picked up his second win of the season.
 
Budkevics went the distance, allowing one earned run on eight hits, while recording eight strikeouts and walking one.
