BIRMINGHAM, ALA.
(March 6, 2013) – The LIU Post women's swimming team took part in two events during the first day at the NCAA Championships setting new team records in both events. After day one, the Pioneers are ranked eighth as a team.

Junior Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) kicked things off for the Pioneers in the 200-yard individual medley, setting a new team record with a third place time of 2:02.45.  This earns her All-America Honors.  All-America Honors are conferred upon those athletes who finish in the top-eight of an individual or relay event.

The second event the Pioneers finished with a place on the winner's stand was the 200-yard medley relay.  Freshman Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom), Garriock, freshman Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.), and freshman  Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) teamed up to compete in the event and grabbed a fourth place finish with a new team record time of 1:42.91.  This fourth place finish earns each member of the relay team All-America Honors.

At the end of day one, the Pioneers have totaled 46 points to place the team in eighth place.  Drury University currently holds first place with a total of 104 points.
