Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 13, 2013) – The Pioneers showed resiliency by taking the second game of a doubleheader with conference rival Molloy after dropping the first game, 5-4, in 14 innings.

In the first game, Molloy jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the seventh to go ahead 4-0. That all changed in the bottom of the eighth, when the Pioneers' bats woke up.

With two men on, junior Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.) singled to right to drive in freshman David Groeneveld (Centereach, N.Y.). After junior Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, sophomore Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y) cleared them with a double to center to tie the game at 4.

The teams played another five scoreless innings before the Lions pushed a run across in the 14th to get the win.

In the second game, the Pioneers (12-15, 5-5 ECC) came out swinging, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first.

McKay singled to shallow left to bring home Herring and advanced all the way to third on the throw that got away from Molloy's catcher, Kyle Van Duyne.

Brunetti followed with an RBI single of his own and Anthony Corona (Carmel, N.Y.) kept the line moving with a double to deep left-center field.

That was more than enough for starter Mike Eckerle (Hewlett, N.Y.), who retired the first nine batters he faced. Eckerle went 7 innings, allowed four hits, one earned run, struck out nine and walked two to earn his third win of the season.

Next up for the Pioneers is a non-conference matchup with Long Island rival Adelphi on April 17.
