No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Rolls Over Roberts Wesleyan, 20-3

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 21, 2013) – Top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse wasted little time in dispatching Roberts Wesleyan College on Sunday afternoon, building up a large first half lead and continuing momentum into the second half en route to a 20-3 drubbing of the Redhawks in East Coast Conference women's lacrosse action.
The Pioneers are still perfect on the season with a 14-0 record and improve to 5-0 in ECC action, while Roberts Wesleyan dips below .500 with a 6-7 overall mark and a 1-4 record in ECC play.
Senior Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) kicked off a run of 11 straight Pioneer goals that helped the hosts open up a 12-1 lead at halftime. The second half continued the strong scoring push with a 7-0 run that made the score 20-2 before Roberts notched its third goal of the contest with 59 seconds remaining.
Junior Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) led all scorers with nine points, including a season-high six goals. Olen was close behind with five points on three goals and two assists. Freshman Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) registered her first collegiate hat trick, while senior Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) added two goals. Juniors Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) added five and four assists, respectively, while Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) totaled three points (1 g, 2 a) and Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) added two points (1 g, 1 a).
Senior Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) earned the win, allowing two goals and making three saves in 39:33 minutes of action.
Next up for the Pioneers is a mid-week date with ECC rival Molloy College, starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
