No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Topples Bentley, 17-5

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2013) – Junior attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 11 points (6 g, 5 a), setting a new NCAA Division II record for points in a career with 391, as the top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse team coasted to a 17-5 victory over No. 12 Bentley University on Sunday afternoon.

LIU Post improved to 16-0 overall, while Bentley dropped to 11-6.

Sileo's final goal of the game gave her 11 points on the day and broke West Chester's Stephanie Kienle's mark of 390, set in 2008.

The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead early in the first half as junior Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) scored on Sileo's 100th assist of the season at 29:31, followed by a free position tally by junior Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.), and a Chiarenza pass that Sileo shot into the back of the net at 23:33.

 Bentley's Chelsea Larivee got the Falcons on the board at 21:13, but the Pioneers took control as junior Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored at 17:41, followed by two apiece from Abbie Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Sileo to close out the half and take an 8-1 lead int o the break. 

Bentley came out hard in the second half as Larivee scored back-to-back and the Falcons accounted for four of the first six goals scored, and with 20:59, the Pioneers lead was just five (10-5).

But the Pioneers offense began to click on all cylinders as Ross scored, followed by Sileo, Chiarenza, and Losco scores, taking a 14-5 lead.  Senior Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) scored on a free position shot, followed by Sileo at 10:19 and a final score by Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) at 2:34.

Senior goalkeeper Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) made 12 stops on the afternoon.

Prior to the game, seniors Aimee Capps (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Drost, Ross, Olen, Bridgett Soares (San Diego, Calif.), Mosca and Megan Noone (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) were recognized for their stellar play over the past four seasons.

The Pioneers conclude their regular season on Thursday at 2 against Bridgeport.
