Five Women's Lacrosse Players Named To IWLCA All-America Teams

BALTIMORE, MD. (May 14, 2013) – The IWLCA has honored 32 student-athletes in Division II with a selection on one of the All-American teams for 2013, and five members of the LIU Post women's lacrosse team earned first or second team honors.

The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

First team selections from the Pioneers include senior attacker Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) and junior attackers Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.).  Earning spots on the second team were senior goalkeeper Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior defender Melissa Rohr (Bethpage, N.Y.).

This season, Olen became the LIU Post All-Time Leading Goal Scorer when she notched her 217th career goal against Merrimack. Olen ranks second in Division II with 4.72 goals per game and has tallied 85 goals this season, also good for second in Division II. In addition, she has tallied 21 assists, 24 ground balls, and has caused 26 turnovers.

Sileo leads all of Division II with 115 assists in 2013 and averages 6.39 assists per game, also good for tops in the country. She has also added 55 goals to lead the Pioneers with 170 points. She has also averaging a Division II-leading 9.44 points per game.

Rotan has totaled 52 points (38 goals, 14 assists) this season, while also grabbing 33 groundballs and causing 18 turnovers.

Mosca and the LIU Post defense ranks fourth in Division II with 6.53 goals against per game. She totaled 98 saves in 16 games and posted a .513 save percentage.

Rohr has been a standout on the defensive side for the Pioneers, starting all 18 games this season. She has tallied 29 ground balls and has caused nine turnovers for one of the nation's leading defenses.

The Pioneers head to Owings Mills, Md. for a semi-final matchup against Adelphi on Saturday, May 18.
