Five Women's Lacrosse Players Earn National Recognition From Synapse Sports
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 14, 2013) - Five members of the LIU Post women's lacrosse team earned national recognition as Synapse Sports released its Division II Postseason honors list.
Synapse Sports has named All Americans along with Attacker, Midfielder, Defender, Goalkeeper, Coach and Unsung Players-of-the-Year plus an entire Rookie Team.
Junior
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named the Attacker of the Year for the second straight year. The nation's leading playmaker, Sileo led the Pioneers to an undefeated season and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. She notched a national-leading 115 assists on the season thus far and as a junior already holds the career record in both points and assists in Division II history.
Fellow junior
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) was named this year's Midfielder of the Year after receiving the Unsung Hero of the Year award last season. Rotan has been an explosive player for the Pioneers, leading the team in ground balls while ranking second in caused turnovers, third in draw controls, and fifth in scoring.
Senior
Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) earned this year's Goalie of the Year honors. Mosca continued her domination in the cage this season as she is the only keeper ranked in the top-four nationally in both save percentage and goals-against average.
Sophomore
Kali Maxwell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was tabbed the Unsung Hero of the Year. Maxwell has jumpstarted the Pioneers' offense this season, leading LIU Post in draw controls while ranking in the top-five on the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers.
In addition, senior attacker
Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) along with Mosca, Rotan, and Sileo were named First Team All-Americans.
