Women's Lacrosse Dispatches Bridgeport, 21-3

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 2, 2013) – The top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse team capped an undefeated regular season with a 21-3 victory over the Bridgeport Purple Knights on Thursday evening, in the process, clinching the East Coast Conference regular season title.
The Pioneers improve to 17-0 overall and 7-0 in ECC action while Bridgeport ends its season at 5-10, 0-7 in conference play.
The Pioneers score the first four goals of the game and held a commanding 11-2 lead at halftime, then they outscored the Purple Knights 10-1 in the second half to ensure the victory.
Multi-goal scorers were led by junior
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) who totaled nine points on four goals and five assists. Close behind was
Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.) with seven points on three goals and four assists. Senior
Abbie Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) recorded a hat trick and junior
Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) totaled two goals and two assists.
Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored two goals and senior
Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) also added two tallies, while juniors
Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) and
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) each scored a goal and added an assist.
In goal, senior
Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) made three saves to improve to 15-0 on the season, while
Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) played the final 14:18 in net and kept the Purple Knights scoreless.
The Pioneers, recently ranked No. 1 in the North Region, await Sunday's night's NCAA selection show to find out their seeding and opponent in the upcoming NCAA Championships.
