BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (June 21, 2013) – A pair of standouts on the LIU Post baseball team, brothers Pete and Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.), are continuing their baseball careers in New York.

Bo is currently playing for the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League. Bo was an ECC All-Conference Second Team selection in 2013 and led the Pioneers with 77 innings pitched. He finished the 2013 season with a 4-4 record, a 2.06 ERA and topped the Pioneers staff with 70 innings. In two games for the Boulders, he has 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Three years after signing as an undrafted free agent with the L.A. Dodgers, 6' 2" pitcher Pete Budkevics has returned to Long Island. The right hander, who left LIU Post with 20 wins and as the career strikeout leader with 297 strikeouts as a Pioneer, has joined the Long Island Ducks in 2013. Through May 29, Budkevics had a 4.62 ERA over 9.2 innings, giving up 5 earned runs and posting a 10-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Deer Park native led the Pioneers with eight wins and an ERA of 2.97, while allowing a opponents batting average of only .203 in 2009. He last pitched in 2011 with the Great Lakes Loons (A, Dodgers) in the Midwest League. The right-hander posted a 4-4 record with a 3.39 ERA and five saves in 45 games. He also struck out 71 batters in 85 innings pitched. In 2010, he went 4-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 12 games (five starts) with the Ogden Raptors (R, Dodgers).
