Bridgett Soares (San Diego, Calif.) received one of the highest honors in women's lacrosse, as she was dubbed the IWLCA Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The award, which recognizes excellence in the classroom, and on the field, is presented annually to one honoree from each division.

Off the field, Soares, a Criminal Justice major, compiled a 3.78 cumulative grade-point average, and landed her name on the Dean's List for several semesters. She won numerous accolades for her schoolwork as well, including LIU Post's Thomas J. Cacaras Academic Excellence Award.
Additionally, Soares currently represents her country, holding the rank of Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. She served as an Officer Candidate for the four years prior.
