WACO, Texas (Sept. 16, 2013) - For the first time since 2010, the LIU Post football team collected votes in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Top-25 Poll, released Monday.
The Pioneers, who amassed 12 votes, were the only squad from the Northeast-10 Conference to be recognized in the tally.
Meanwhile, the AFCA's Top-10 remained unchanged for the second week in a row. Valdosta State was the unanimous No. 1 with 28 first-place nods and 790 points.
LIU Post is off to a 2-0 start in 2013, matching last season's outset. Red-shirt junior quarterback Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) has completed an impressive 65.5 percent (40-for-61) of his passes thus far for 455 yards and four touchdowns. The signal caller has also taken off 29 times for a team-leading 190 net yards (208 gain, 18 loss) and a score.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday (Sept. 19), when they face NE-10 opponent Bentley under the lights in Waltham, Mass. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
