Women's Lacrosse Walks to Find Cure For Lupus

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2014) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team joined in the fight against Lupus, as it took part in the 21st-annual Walk-Along For Lupus at Eisenhower Park.

The event raised over $168,000, in the hopes of finding a cure for the disease. Since 1900, a total of $1.3 million has been collected for the Lupus Alliance of Long Island and Queens County.

"The Walk-Along For Lupus is a great way for us to continue to get involved and be a part of the community," Head Coach Meghan McNamara (East Northport, N.Y.) stated. "It hits home for some of the members of our team, and is great to have the opportunity to support them, even if it is something as small as participating in a walk to raise awareness."

Located in Bellmore, the goal of the Lupus Alliance of Long Island and Queens County is to serve, educate and find the cause and cure for Lupus, while helping those with the disease live better lives.
