Women's Tennis Rolls to 7-2 Victory at Pratt Institute

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2014) - The LIU Post women's tennis team secured its fifth win of the 2014 season Friday, as it defeated Pratt Institute, 7-2, in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Pioneers won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles flights. 

Respective No. 1 and No. 2 singles competitors Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) remain undefeated in one-on-one play for LIU Post this year. Fatchikova edged Pratt's Agata Sakoboswka, 6-1, 2-6, 10-7, while Chrastecka bested Carson Stanch in straight sets (6-2, 6-0). The pair teamed up to win their No. 1 doubles match, 8-1.

Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand), Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) and Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) earned wins at their singles flights as well to help the green and gold to victory. Additionally, Kewalramani and Harwell picked up an 8-3 triumph at second doubles.

Head Coach Darrel Bielawski and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Oct. 4), when they face East Coast Conference front-runner NYIT in Old Westbury, N.Y. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
