Women's Tennis Defeats Holy Family, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 9, 2014) - The LIU Post women's tennis team secured two of three doubles flights and four of six singles matches Thursday, en route to a 6-3 victory over Holy Family in Philadelphia.

Juniors Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) still boast a clean slate throughout No. 1 and 2 singles competition this season. Fatchikova earned a hard-fought 7-5, 6-2 win against Anastasia Kolodiy, while Chrastecka topped Emerald Adams in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. The two paired up to clinch their doubles flight, 8-2. 

Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) and Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) won their singles flights, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10, and 6-4, 6-2, respectively. The duo also went on to win their doubles match over the Tigers' Christina Little and Alina Nersesyan, 8-1.

With the non-conference win, the Pioneers improved to an overall record of 6-2.

Head Coach Darrel Bielawski and his LIU Post squad are back in action next Friday (Oct. 17), when they face Molloy in an East Coast Conference tilt at 3 p.m. in West Hempstead, N.Y.
