PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (Feb. 21, 2014)
- On Thursday, former LIU Post women's lacrosse standout defender Brie-Claire Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) was hired as an assistant coach at Division III program St. Joseph's College - Long Island.

Drost, a member of the Pioneers from 2009-13, helped the green and gold to back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships, and a pair of East Coast Conference regular-season titles. Over 74 career games, she tallied 44 points (35 G, 9 A), while amassing 99 ground balls, 78 draw controls and 46 caused turnovers.

For her efforts, the Wading River, N.Y. product thrice earned All-East Coast Conference second-team accolades. In 2011, she was also an IWLCA All-North Region and USACollegeLacrose.com All-America second-team selection.

St. Joseph's head coach Bob Vlahakis had the following to say about his new assistant coach: "Brie Claire is an excellent teacher of the game. She is clearly capable of breaking down defensive footwork, and is already very familiar with the backer defense we play. Her offensive tutelage under LIU Post head coach Meghan McNamara will provide our attack and midfielders with new insights and the necessary knowledge to take a leap to the next level...I have complete faith and trust in her to do an excellent job for us."

Drost will coach her first game from the sidelines on Saturday (Feb. 22) against FDU-Florham at 1 p.m.

The Pioneers open their 2013 season next Saturday (Mar. 1) versus Bloomsburg at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. The opening draw is scheduled for 2 p.m.
