Sileo Repeats as ECC Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2014) - On Monday afternoon, LIU Post senior attacker
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.), who amassed a team-leading 18 points last week, earned East Coast Conference Player of the Week accolades for the second-consecutive time.
It is the second time, as well, that she has repeated as the league's top offensive player of the week. Sileo garnered the honor on Mar. 17 and Mar. 24.
The Wantagh, N.Y. native broke out for her second-highest scoring output of the season Wednesday against Bridgeport. She totaled a game-high 11 points (3 G, 8 A) in an 18-3 rout, which was two less from her season-best at Holy Family (Mar. 15). Three days later, Sileo racked up seven points (1 G, 6 A) in an 11-9 victory against Stonehill. Three of those were key assists in rallying the Pioneers back from a 7-5 second-half deficit.
For the year, Sileo currently ranks as the nation's and conference's leading point- and assist-getter, sporting totals of 112, and 73, respectively. She also ranks in the Top-50 in NCAA Division II for goals (39) and goals per game (2,79).
Sileo and the Pioneers are back at it on Saturday (Apr. 19), when they host UDC in their 2014 regular-season home finale at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. The opening draw is set for noon.
