Sileo, Vagelatos Scoop Up ECC Weekly Honors

Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) has been dubbed the East Coast Conference Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, it was announced Monday. Meanwhile, freshman attacker
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) was recognized as the ECC Rookie of the Week.
Ironically, the two attackers combined on the game-winning goal in the Pioneers' first win this week, a 14-13 triumph at No. 4 New Haven on Thursday. Sileo recorded the assist on the game-winner, which was scored by Vagelatos. The two then combined to tally 11 points in the regular-season finale, an 18-9 victory against St. Thomas Aquinas in the annual "Battle at Bethpage" on Saturday.
Sileo netted a goal in the Thursday contest up in Connecticut and dished out six assists, before putting up a seven-goal performance on Saturday. She also contributed one assist to put her point total for the week at 15. On the season, the Wantagh, N.Y. native is the national leader in points (127), assists (80) and assists per game (5.0). Plus, Sileo spearheads her team with 47 goals.
Vagelatos, who earned top rookie accolades for the third time in 2014, contributed a six-point week, including a hat trick and an assist versus No. 4 New Haven on Thursday. The freshman followed that performance up with a goal and two assists in Saturday's win. For the year, Vagelatos is third on the team in goals (37) and points (51). She leads the green and gold, however, with nine game-winning tallies.
The LIU Post women's lacrosse team is the top-overall seed in the upcoming East Coast Conference Tournament. It will host fourth-seeded Molloy on Thursday (May 1) at Hickox Field in Brookvile, N.Y. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
